No More Spares

Yesterday was a rough day. My body was still recovering from the previous day. With a heavy load it was difficult to climb even the smallest incline. After about 30 miles I pulled into a gas station to rest my tired legs. When I came out I soon realized one of the trailer's tires had a flat. While I changed the tire two fellows asked if I was alright of course my response was thanks, but I got this. I did tell them where I was going and that gave them a chuckle. As soon as I was done filling the new and last tube I proceeded to get back on the bike, as I pushed the pedal I felt a jolt, to my disbelief the last tube had popped, stopping a few people in their tracks. The same men offered to give me a ride to El Paso free of charge. "Wilcox OK?" I asked. I was expected there by a friend that afternoon. They loaded my trailer and my bike then made room in their truck for me. Along the way I was happy to learn about their family and their job, they asked about mine. They were more then happy to scribble on the back of receipts to communicate with me. In between writing, laughter, and many nods of agreement nothing else was needed.
